The CAT 2020 question papers tell us that the VARC and LRDI section have undergone a permanent change both in terms of the difficulty of the questions and in terms of complexity of the questions. The VA and RC passages, including the questions, are heavy and dense. It implies that as a CAT aspirant, you must focus heavily on reading and solving a wide range of dense passages, covering issues from feminism and pollution to astronomical research and ethical dilemmas.
As far as LRDI is concerned, it is very important to solve the right type of sets. The coaching material and the content of lrdi books by popular authors don’t have the kind of sets that have now started coming in CAT. For LRDI it is very important for the student to practice the right sort of sets.
On the QA front things have changed for the better. The questions have become easier and more doable, with a good number of questions coming from Arithmetic and Algebra. While the focus in LRDI should be on the type of sets you solve, in Algebra you should dedicate more time to working on the concepts of all the topics. Understanding the syllabus will help you work out a study plan.
