CAT 2020 Quant Question [Slot 3] with Solution 26

Question

Let m and n be natural numbers such that n is even and \(0.2 < \frac{m}{{20}},\frac{n}{m},\frac{n}{{11}} < 0.5\). Then \(m - 2n\) equals

  1. 3
  2. 4
  3. 1
  4. 2
Option: 3
Solution:

Given \(0.2 < \frac{m}{{20}} < 0.5 \Rightarrow 4 < m < 10\)

\(0.2 < \frac{n}{{11}} < 0.5 \Rightarrow 2.2 < n < 5.5 \Rightarrow n = 4\)

since \(0.2 < \frac{n}{m} < 0.5\) and \(n = 4,m = 9\)

\(m - 2n = 9 - 2 \times 4 = 1\)
