The WAT PI process of the IIMs is stage II of the selection process. There are two stages in the CAT IIM selection process. In fact, this two-stage process is there for almost all the top B schools of India. The first stage is the aptitude exam. Different B-schools have different exams, the score of which they consider for shortlisting candidates for the second stage. CAT, XAT, MH CET, NMAT, SNAP and GMAT are the some of the popular exams that people write to get admissions into the top b-schools of India.
All these b-schools have a two-stage selection process. After shortlisting the students for the second round, the colleges call the candidates for Group Discussion (GD), Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). All the three may not be there in all colleges. Most of the top b-schools have removed GD from their selection process. There are hardly any that have GD. Most of them have made transition from GD to WAT; i.e. most of them have switched from testing communication skills to testing writing skills. This makes sense because if communication cam be evaluated in the interview than why to have GD and make the whole exercise redundant. Writing Ability Tests are in that case much better than GD as they help you understand the deeper thought process and the knowledge level of the candidate.
Few b-schools have all GD, WAT and PI in their selection process. SP Jain B-school has Group Interview as a part of their selection process, and FMS has extempore in the PI for which it has additional marks. Apart from these two, all the colleges have PI and WAT/GD.
Here is the list of WAT topics that we have collected and compiled. You can go through these and develop your content. These topics have both video content and text content. These should suffice if one wants to build content on current affairs.
