A university gives admission to a student on the basis of his/her final exam score and the board of education in which he/she passed. There are six boards - A, B, C, D, E and F - which are considered by the university. There are different cutoffs for each of the boards. (Cutoffs were at a difference of 5). Ten students opted for admissions in the university from which only seven were selected. ’C’ was the only board from which no student was select.. The score of every select student was equal to their respective cutoffs.

John was the second highest scorer among males. Board 'D' had the lowest cut-off.
The highest scorer among females belonged to 'C' board.
There were two students from each board, except and 'P.

Q1. Which of the following students belonged to board ‘F’?
Smith
Laura
John
Avril
Q2. Which of the following students was not selected?
Smith
David
John
Martin
Q3. Which of the following pairs belonged to the same board?
Martin & Smith
Smith & Suzanne
Suzanne & Anna
Anne & Avril
Q4. What was the cut-off for board ‘E’?
There are 2 students from boards - 'D' & 'E' while only 1 student from board C and F
As the topper, with a score of 80, is rejected, the maximum cutoff must be 85 (the cut offs are at a difference of 5). Thus, the six cut-offs must be - 85, 80, 75, 70, 65 & 60.
Board 'D' has the lowest cut-off. Suzanne scored the least marks and still got selected. Hence, the cut-off for Suzanne should be the least. Thus, she belonged to board 'D' and the cut-off for 'D' was 60. Suzanne's score was 60 as she just managed to clear the cut-off.
Monica is the topper. The topper belongs to 'C'. Thus, Monica belongs to board 'C' which had a cut-off of 85.
Laura and David belong to the same board. Thus they can either be from board .D. or 'E'. Joseph and Martin belong to board 'A' 8 'B' respectively while Suzanne belongs to board 'D'. Hence, Laura and David belong to board 'E' as there are a maximum of only two students horn each board. Also, they both cannot be rejected, as 'C' was the only board from which no student was selected. Hence they were selected. As each selected student just managed to clear the cut-off, cut-offs for Laura and David should be 70.
Avril was selected and her score was less than David's score but greater than that of Smith's. As she is selected, her score should be either 65 or 60. It cannot be 60 as it would mean Smith's score <60. Thus she scored 65 marks. 'F' is the only board which can have a cut-off of 65. Hence, Avril belongs to 'F board.
Anne's cut-off is >75 i.e. 80. It cannot be 85 as it would mean she also belongs to board 'C'. Thus, she belongs to board 'A'.
From board 'A', Anne was rejected. Hence Joseph should be selected. His score, therefore, should be 80.
John, with a score of 75, was the second topper among boys. Joseph topped among boys with a score of 80. Thus, Martin's score would be less than 75 i.e. less than cut-off. Hence, Martin was not selected.
Hence, the remaining students - Smith and John, were selected. Smith scored less than Avril i.e. he scored 60 and belongs to board TY while John had a the cut-off of 75 and belonged to board 'B'
